Mondo Robot is a design boutique that specializes in creating highly conceptual work in traditional and emerging media. We’re a small, high-octane crew of talented interactive media developers and designers who are working with cutting-edge technology and pushing boundaries.

We are looking for an Interactive Art Director who has an outstanding interactive portfolio. One who knows how to define the user experience and can create cutting-edge interfaces for web sites and other interactive media.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  Qualified candidates will have 5+ years agency experience and formal design training with solid typography, graphic, and interaction design skills. An in-depth knowledge of appropriate usage of the latest versions of Flash (including ActionScript) PhotoShop, Illustrator, Indesign, Director, Dreamweaver (and other web authoring/motion graphic tools) is required. Understanding of HTML, DHTML, and JavaScript (rollovers, pop-ups) and the capabilities of web browsers and user interaction are essential.

SKILLS:

· Strong concept development and graphic design ability

· Ability to clearly articulate thinking behind creative solutions

· Excellent understanding of composition, color, imagery, typography

· Strong working experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash and image optimization for web

· Experience creating and working with site maps, online ad rich media storyboards, user flow, wireframes, and other information design documents for Web sites and Web-based applications

· Excellent understanding of user experience issues

· Solid experience creating Web graphics, animations, user interfaces, icons, style sheets, color schemes, templates and layouts for use in online advertising and web site projects, ensuring site- wide color and typeface standards and consistency.

· Experience providing art direction to Designers and Web Developers

· Ability to self-manage projects and work within time deadlines

· Team oriented, self-motivated

User Experience Designer (short summary)

We need an experienced User Experience Designer. Needs to come from background of interaction design, User Interface Design, Information Design, graphic/visual design or related field. BFA preferred.

Would be helpful to have a clue in human cognitive development, like psychology, education, library or information science, and good understanding of new media technology.

Advanced to Expert level CSS2 styling by hand, hand-coding XHTML, Photoshop, Illustrator CS3, Intermediate to Advanced Dreamweaver CS3. Will make wireframes, mockups, as well as skin the site for new features in the product as well as custom skinning for our HiveLive customer communities.

This position will not have to code any PHP and will have to interact with Javascript mostly as a user, not as a coder creating new javascript or AJAX.
Knowledge of the web and its design limitations is essential. Needs to have a design portfolio of websites to show - this is part of the interview.

As usual, needs to be highly communicative, socially apt, jive well with the team, be able to wear lots of hats and do well in a startup environment.

We promise not to email the group very often, but we wanted to make sure everyone knows about the very first IxDA meeting -- this Thursday April 10, at Panera Bread in Capitol Hill. A couple things to keep in mind, as you decide whether to attend or not:

This IxDA Colorado meeting isn't your typical professional event. We want the experience to be convivial and collaboratory. No Powerpoint projections in a dark room. Lots of audience participation... you'll get more out of it if you're there. And it won't last all night.
Josh's talk will be of interest to both consultants and folks working within a company. Josh is working for an agency now, but he also has experience working in very large organizations as well as startups. He's going to talk about things that we all care about -- like how to use the best method for a project. Plus, he'll walk us through a case study, and share some sample deliverables.

It's going to be fun. We'll see you there.

sense of urgency to explore and expand the boundaries of design that can be
used to solve complex interaction problems; strategic breadth, attention to
detail, and a sense of balance for aesthetics, innovation and usability; and
a deep understanding of scenario-based design. The designer should also be
able to stand back and identify the design patterns that can be leveraged
across applications building on Microsoft IT's evolving technology framework
to expand the impact of the designer's ideas. A qualified candidate must
share our belief that design is as much about behavior and emotion as it is
about utility and ease of use.

At least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant design field (industrial design,
graphic design, HCI, etc.) is required. An advanced degree would even be
better. The candidate should have a minimum of 4-5 years of related work
experience; and have demonstrated an understanding of how substantial
business value can be delivered through design innovation. Trial and
experimentation leads to better designs, and so the ability to prototype at
several levels of fidelity is important. Experience with WPF, Silverlight,
and similar tools is a definite plus.

We'll be looking for excellent problem-framing skills; strong verbal and
written skills; and a clear sense of process and the ability to innovate on
process tools and conventions. Strength in working collaboratively on
multi-disciplinary teams is critical, along with a commitment to the idea
that the best work is done through collaboration.

The Product Design Engineer is responsible for user interface design efforts for new and existing products. They will work with the product management and development departments to interpret and translate business requirements into a visual product, including prototyping and stand-alone screen designs. They are also responsible for the creation of, and the content in, the software requirements specification document which outlines the workflow and functionality of each screen control.

Responsibilities:

· Assists in the creation of software requirements during the product definition phase of product development, this includes interviewing potential users, internal staff, etc.;

· Designs navigation and user interactions with the product, integration between products, and integration of third party products into our products;

· Ensures that the product is ready for release;

Considering a move from bay area to Colorado

Actually, I still live in the Bay Area, but my wife and I are seriously considering a move to Denver/Fort Collins/Boulder. Primarily for the lower cost of housing and a change of scene.

Hoping to listen in on the buzz. How are the interaction jobs out that way generally - are there good options? Any advice on companies or cities that would be better to check out?
